Synopsis: Howard T. Odum was a pioneer in the field of Ecology, and when he arrived at the University of Florida in the 1970s, he left an unimaginable impact on the way the university and the world measures energy.

I edited this piece using FCX.

This piece required a lot of balance. You have to make sure that the audience understands the scientific concepts without undermining any of the research, allow time for the audience to learn who Odum was, and then make sure that everything connects back to the University. It was a bit of a challenge, but it was immensely rewarding when it all came together!

I also utilized sound design in this one.

Shooting

The interview with David Kaplan and the respective b-roll of him were all new media shot for this piece. I also shot the sequence with the book using a Manfrotto dolly.
